2024 Olympics - Day 2 Artistic Gymnastics Event Finals

 Today sees the second of three days of Event Finals for the Men and Women's Artistic Gymnastics. Men will be contesting the Still Rings and Vault finals, with Women's Finals being held on the Uneven Bars. Phenomenal routines from the Chinese gymnasts ZOU Jingyuan and LIU Yang on the Still Rings. Petrounias - lovely swing-to-strength element, slight overarch in handstand and small movements in the Rings, solid dismount! Cuyle - legs appear slightly low, kip to Maltese, slight swing in handstand positions, falls on triple back dismount. Asil - small step on the dismount, limited swing in the rings, sharp movements, small form errors. Ait Said - huge response from the crowd, this is a great routine, small bobble on his final handstand, sticks the dismount just a little low in the chest. Hepworth - good routine, slight form issues, and another stuck dismount. Vahagn Davtyan - Stuck double layout full twist dismount, some small swing and form issues. China's LIU Yang wins the Olympic title on the Still Rings with compatriot ZOU Jingyuan earning the silver and Greece's Eleftherios Petrounias finishing third!

Moving onto the Women's Uneven Bars final. I like today's format better, in having all three finals and then the medal presentations. Yellow and white leotard with diamantes for ZHANG Yihan. Red leotard with diamantes for Alice D'Amato. Red leotard with silver diamantes for Rebecca Downie. Lovely white leotard with diamantes for Kayla Nemour. White and purple leotard with diamantes for QIU Qiyuan. Blue and nude coloured leo with diamantes for Helen Kevric and it looks like the red leo for Sunisa Lee. Beautiful white leotard with Belgium patterning and diamantes for Nina Derwael. ZHANG Yihan - has to count a fall on piked Tkatchev, lands weak-kneed, and has to take several steps backward. D'Amato - full pirouette finishes late, lovely transitions and releases, solid dismount to finish. Derwael - great routine for her, some small form breaks. Oh, this final is going to be close I think. Downie - falls on the Downie, remounts to finish strong. QIU Qiyuan - Beautiful pirouettes, inside stalder, pak salto, stuck dismount. Nemour - Phenomenal routine!!!! Kevric - hop forward on her dismount and some slight form errors in the routine. Lee - great routine, finished tiny bit late on piroutte. I'm crying. Kaylia Nemour of Algeria takes the title over China's QIU Qiyuan with U.S.A.'s Sunisa Lee winning bronze. Lee's reaction - so happy for her!! 

Men's Vault is the last apparatus final to take place today. Chepurnyi - good Dragulescu to begin, Lopez well landed and clean. Hepworth - small hop back on Dragulescu, lovely Handspring 2.5. Jarman - big step on handspring triple twist,  step back on the Roche. Yulo - great vault, small step on landing, Lopez -large step back. Radivilov - double front half out, performed well; tsuk double back piked - massive jump back and sits down the landing. Benovic - great first vault! Slightly low in landing on his second vault. Olfati - great height but takes three massive steps backward on his landing of the first vault; underrotates his second vault and low in the landing. Artur Davtyan - solid Dragulescu, lands close to the horse with a small hop back; great second vault, just a small hop back. Philippines' gymnast Carlos Edriel Yulo wins the Vault title with Armenian Artur Davtyan taking the silver and Great Britain's Harry Hepworth earning the bronze.

Competition begins on the Floor Exercise for the first day of the Apparatus Finals at the 2024 Men's Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championships. Big hop on the second pass for Carlos Edriel Yulo. Day 2 EF - 2024 MAG Asian Championships

Today marks the final day of competition at the Asian MAG Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The Senior Men's Vault, Parallel Bars and Horizontal Bar finals will be contested along with all six finals for the Junior Men (see separate post) for the Junior results. I had commitments for the final three finals for the Juniors, so will update the post with the scores when I can. ` Okay, Vault time. TRINH Hai Khang - Solid first vault, huge second vault but has to take a large step back. Juancho Miguel Besana - I missed his first vault but judging by the score it was great! Second vault - great in the air, just a step off to the side. Carlos Edriel Yulo - solid - just low chest on the landing of his first vault; Floats in the air on his second vault, small sideways step on the landing. NG Chun Chen - huge flight but cannot control the landing, goes out of bounds and into the wall on his first vault; lands to his feet but then falls backwards on his second vault. 2024 Olympics - Gymnasts Chosen as Closing Ceremony Flag Bearers

Cyprus' Vera Tugolukova, who finished 16th in the Rhythmic Gymnastics All-Around competition.
