2024 Olympics - Day 1 Artistic Gymnastics Event Finals

Today sees the first of three days of Event Finals for the Men and Women's Artistic Gymnastics. Men will be contesting the Floor Exercise and Pommel Horse finals, with Women's Finals being held on the Vault. YEO Seojeong of the Republic of Korea, was reportedly worked on by her team/medical during warms up. Fabian Hambuechen performs the coup de baton today. 

We begin with Men's Floor - Zapata - deep squat on his second pass, otherwise  a really solid routine for him. Long delay for the score. Dolgopyat - very clean lines with small adjustments on landings, low shoulders in his double-double, good half-in half out to finish. Yulo - great routine! Some landing issues. ZHANG Boheng - out of bounds to the side on first pass, had a few problems in the landings on the routine. Karimi - good routine, some small hops on landings. Jarman - Hops on landings but another good routine. Kovtun - solid routine for him. Whitehouse - triple back, deep squat on his second pass, great routine! Carlos Edriel Yulo wins the 2024 Olympics Men's Floor Title!! Israel's Artem Dolgopyat finishes second with Great Britain's Jake Jarman in third.

We move on to the Women's Vault. Valentina Georgieva - lovely double twist to begin with a hop back on the landing; tsuk 1.5 - solid landing. AN Chang Ok - lovely Yurchenko double; solid Cheng deep squat in the landing. Olsen - low and form errors in her Cheng attempt; knees down on the mat on her second vault. Ellie Black comes to comfort her. Biles - Phenomenal YDP! Her second vault is another phenomenal Cheng!! Andrade's leotard is stunning! Black - handspring front full - solid; tsuk 1.5 big jump forward. Andrade -  phenomenal Cheng with a small step on the landing; 2.5 twist small shuffle on the landing. She's thrilled! YEO Seojeong - Handspring front 1.5 really low on the landing and step forward; struggles on landing and hands down. Carey - great Cheng! Phenomenal Yurchenko double!! Simone Biles wins the Women's Vault title over Brazilian Rebeca Andrade with fellow American Jade Carey taking the bronze! 

The final event for the day is Men's Pommel Horse. Kurbanov - really appears cool, calm, and collected - small form breaks. Whitlock - legs apart, but great routine! de Munck - overarch in handstand, swinging well, small leg separation, and loses his balance and comes off the horse, remounts, and finishes strong. McClenaghan - Phenomenal!!! He's in the lead. He's crying, I'm crying and we still have another four gymnasts to go. Nedoroscik - Brody Malone is with Sam Mikulak prepping the Pommels for Nedoroscik. Malone is the ultimate hype guy in the back. Phenomenal!! Sugino - good routine, looked as though he had to muscle up for the dismount. Verniaiev - swinging well, also has to muscle up to the dismount. HUR Woong - misses one of his sequences and comes off the horse, remounts, and looks a little wild in his travels, solid dismount. Ireland's Rhys McClenaghan wins the Olympic title on Pommel Horse. Kazakhstan's Nariman Kurbanov wins the silver medal, with the United States of America's Stephen Nedoroscik winning the bronze.

    Day 2 EF - 2024 MAG Asian Championships

    Today marks the final day of competition at the Asian MAG Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The Senior Men's Vault, Parallel Bars and Horizontal Bar finals will be contested along with all six finals for the Junior Men (see separate post) for the Junior results. I had commitments for the final three finals for the Juniors, so will update the post with the scores when I can. ` Okay, Vault time. TRINH Hai Khang - Solid first vault, huge second vault but has to take a large step back. Juancho Miguel Besana - I missed his first vault but judging by the score it was great! Second vault - great in the air, just a step off to the side. Carlos Edriel Yulo - solid - just low chest on the landing of his first vault; Floats in the air on his second vault, small sideways step on the landing. NG Chun Chen - huge flight but cannot control the landing, goes out of bounds and into the wall on his first vault; lands to his feet but then falls backwards on his second vault.     2024 Olympics - Gymnasts Chosen as Closing Ceremony Flag Bearers
