Day 2 EF - 2024 MAG Asian Championships

Today marks the final day of competition at the Asian MAG Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The Senior Men's Vault, Parallel Bars and Horizontal Bar finals will be contested along with all six finals for the Junior Men (see separate post) for the Junior results. I had commitments for the final three finals for the Juniors, so will update the post with the scores when I can. `

Okay, Vault time. TRINH Hai Khang - Solid first vault, huge second vault but has to take a large step back. Juancho Miguel Besana - I missed his first vault but judging by the score it was great! Second vault - great in the air, just a step off to the side. Carlos Edriel Yulo - solid - just low chest on the landing of his first vault; Floats in the air on his second vault, small sideways step on the landing. NG Chun Chen - huge flight but cannot control the landing, goes out of bounds and into the wall on his first vault; lands to his feet but then falls backwards on his second vault. Delay in the score for this vault. NG Ka Ki - Deep squat and step to the side on his first vault, lands to his feet and then falls back on his second vault. Abdulaziz Mirvaliev - Massive first vault, small hop forward; great second vault, huge hop forward. MOON Geonyong - I missed his first vault; crashes to the mat on his second vault and looks to be injured. Muhammad Sharul Aimy - WOW! Fantastic first vault; followed up by another one! The Malaysian coaches are pumped!! Carlos Edriel Yulo takes the Asian Vault title over Uzbekistan's Abdulaziz Mirvaliev with Malaysia's Muhammad Sharul Aimy winning the bronze medal.

Parallel Bars time. Carlos Edriel Yulo is up first and here is where my problem is... they have not changed the camera view, so we cannot actually see his routine but given the score, it must have been good! Likewise with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea's PAK Song Hyok. Utkirbek Juraev - lovely mount and fight for his handstand positions, slight overarch, beautiful release, double pike dismount, step back. Islamic Republic of Iran's Mohammadreza Khosronezhad comes in to replace Kazakhstan's Milad Karimi in the final and pulls out a great routine! Rasuljon Abdurakhimov - this is a great routine for him, a small hop forward on his dismount. VAN Vi Luong - this is a lovely routine, slight shuffle before his double pike dismount where he looked a little low in his chest and took a step. YIN Dehang - so fluid in his movements and beautiful handstand positions, slight overarch and small hand shuffle, great use of the full length of the bars, low in the landing of his dismount but a solid routine. There seems to be a delay in receiving his score. XIE Chenyi - Swings well, and makes good use of the full length of the bars, has to really muscle up to his penultimate handstand, sticks his double pike dismount but appears low in the chest on the landing. The 2024 Asian Parallel Bars Champion is Carlos Edriel Yulo of the Philippines. China's YIN Dehang takes the silver medal with Uzbekistan's Rasuljon Abdurakhimov earning the bronze medal.

The final event for the Men's Asian Championships is the high-flying Horizontal Bar final. Republic of Korea's KIM Jaeho comes in to replace his compatriot MOON Geonyong who seemed to injure himself on the Vault final earlier this evening. Utkirbek Juraev - Solid routine, not overly difficult!! PARK Seungho - lovely 1 armed giants, suffers a nasty fall on his first major release skill - looks pained but remounts, finishes strong, small hop on his dismount. Adulla Azimov - lovely swing work, huge dismount with the smallest of hops. Another long delay for the score. Bring up a score and then immediately take it away with the announcer about to announce the next gymnast. This is a massive delay now. I really feel for Caloy who is up next. The coach is starting to look stressed. Carlos Edriel Yulo - Solid routine despite the long wait. LIAO Jialei - looks a bit wild in part of the routine, lovely stoop work, small step back on the dismount. He likes it and beckons to the crowd! TIAN Hao - Massive releases, beautiful swing and in bars work, hop forward and deep squat on the landing of his dismount. LEE Junho - Step back on the dismount but a solid routine otherwise. The Final gymnast up is Milad Karimi - SENSATIONAL!!!!!! The 2024 Asian Horizontal Bar Champion is Kazakhstan's Milad Karimi. TIAN Hao and LIAO Jialei of China finish second and third respectively.
