2024 Asian Championships - Junior MAG Event Finals

The final day of competition at the 2024 Asian Men's Artistic Gymnastics Championships, features all six apparatus finals for the Juniors. I am a little sad, that they did not individually announce the gymnasts until their warm-up had begun. Nurtan Idrissov - Lovely side pass to begin, deep squat on his front double tuck not the cleanest landings but a solid routine. WANG Chengcheng - solid tumbling to begin, very floaty, lovely flairs, waited a moment before his forward roll. HONG Yanming - Slightly off balance on his second pass but good fight, spindles, press up to handstand, great landing on his final pass, had some issues with his landings. Roman Khegay - beautiful tumbling, lands in a deep squat on his double tuck. KIM Taeyang - a bit of delay before starting the second half. Oooohhh looked incredibly close to going out of bounds on his first pass, deep squats on his landings, couple of steps back on his final twisting pass. Sarvar Abulfaizov - solid routine, loved his spindle work on the floor. Ryokei Takahashi - these are some great landings that we are seeing from Ryokei! A couple of hops but no major errors. KIM Seungbin - sits down his first pass and hops out of bounds on his second. Long wait for his score. China's Kazakhstan's Roman Khegay and Japan's Ryokei Takahashi share the title on Floor with Nurtan Idrissov taking the bronze.

We move on to the Pommel Horse final, where I missed the first two routines and caught the lovely dismount of WANG Chengcheng. Abolfazl Nikkhoualamsiri - travels well on the horse and has some great work on this apparatus. HSIAO Yu-Lun - another routine I missed. Landed a bit to one of the corners of the mat on his dismount. VO Hoang Phi Ho - took a little to get into a rhythm and really had to muscle up on his handstand for his dismount. Eijun Yasui - swings really well, but unfortunately comes off, gets back up but has to fight to get up for his dismount.  Roman Khegay - solid routine!! China's HONG Yanming takes the honors over compatriot WANG Chengcheng with the Islamic Republic of Iran's Abolfazl Nikkhoualasmsiri finishing in third place.

Moving onto the Still Rings. ZHENG Ao - looked a bit wild in his swings but recovered well, slight overarch in his handstands, stuck dismount. HONG Yanming - great routine. Sarvar Abulfaizov - good routine for Sarvar - slight bobble on the dismount. Ryokei Takahashi - Great routine, just a little low and step on the landing of his dismount. Eijun Yasui - good routine, bit of a fight on the dismount. Nurtan Idrissov - Solid and just made the landing of his dismount look easy. Abolfazl Nikkhoualamsiri -  A bit of a sway on the rings towards the end and a small hop on the dismount. Aliasghar Abbasiroushan - slight swing on the rings, but good routine. Islamic Republic of Iran's Abolfazl Nikkhoualamsiri takes the title over Nurtan Idrissov of Kazakhstan and Japan's Ryokei Takahashi.

Moving on to the Vault final. Low in the landing of Shuhratjon Erkinov's first vault; another delay in the scoring and this time it is a sizable wait; powerful run-up but lands to his knees. And this is where I went out. Some lovely vaults from Sarvar Abulfaizov. Slight landing issues for CHEUNG Ching; hop back on the landing of Zaid Al-Khalidi's vaults, floated on the second vault. Fantastic first vault for Altynkhan Temirbek. Deep squat and hop back on the landing of his second vault. Nurtan Idrissov - deep squat and a rather large lunge forward on his first vault; lovely second vault, step forward. WANG Chengcheng - issues with landing of his first vault, with a nice second vault, small step on the landing. Karl Jahrel Eldrew Yulo - Phenomenal vaulting. Philippines' gymnast Karl Jahrel Eldrew Yulo wins the Vault title over Kazakhstan's Altynkhan Temirbek and Uzbekistan's Sarvar Abulfaizov who finish second and third respectively.

On the Parallel Bars, China's YANG Lanbin wins the title over compatriot ZHENG Ao, with Singapore's Jovi Loh winning the bronze medal, whilst on the Horizontal Bar, Japan's Eijun Yasui won the title over China's YANG Lanbin with Abolfazl Nikkhoualamsiri of the Islamic Republic of Iran winning the bronze medal.
