2023 Chengdu Universiade RG Apparatus Finals

Today concludes the Rhythmic Gymnastics action at the 2023 Chengdu Universiade/University Games from the Chengdu Sports University Gymnasium. Individual Apparatus finals with the Hoop, Ball, Clubs and Ribbon will be contested, whilst in the Group competition, apparatus finals will be contested with the 5 Hoops and the 3 Ribbons & 2 Balls. Ukraine's Khrystyna Pohranychna won the Hoop final over Azerbaijan's Zohra Aghamirova and Kazakhstan's Elzhana Taniyeva, whilst Hungarian Fanni Pigniczki won the Ball title over Taniyeva and Bulgarian Tatyana Nikolaevna Volozhanina. In the Group competition, China won the 5 Hoops apparatus title over Japan and Ukraine. It was an intense Clubs final with the higher execution score of Bulgarian Tatyana Nikolaevna Volozhanina earning her the title over Azerbaijan's Zohra Aghamirova with Japan's Reina Matsusaka earning the bronze medal. Zohra Aghamirova requested an inquiry into her Ribbon score but it remained the same early in the apparatus final. Pohranchyna won the gold medal with the Ribbon, with Taniyeva's higher E-Score meaning she received the silver over Aghamirova. The Japanese group won the 3 Ribbons & 2 Balls Apparatus title, with the Group from China winning the silver and Chinese Taipei earning the bronze.

2023 Central American and Caribbean Games Women's Artistic TF & AA/EF Qualifications

Today sees the Women's Artistic Gymnastics Competition begin at the 2023 Centroamerican and Caribbean Games which is being held in San Salvador. Barbados declined the invitation to compete meaning the delegation of Puerto Rico has been increased from three to four gymnasts. After the first subdivision, the Mexican team has a commanding 10-point lead over Panama with Costa Rica sitting in third. Mexico's Natalia Isabel Escalera Cardenas sits atop the All Around rankings over compatriot Alexa Citlali Moreno Medina and Panama's Karla Andrea Navas Boyd. Moreno Medina also leads the Vault and Floor standings with compatriots Escalera Cardenas topping the Uneven Bars and  Paulina Campos Martinez top scoring on the Balance Beam.  The Team from Mexico remained dominant to win the team title over Panama with the team from Colombia winning the bronze medal.
