SEA Games 2022 Day 1 Artistic Gymnastics Event Finals

A couple of stumbles for Tikumporn - he is receiving medical attention. Solid routine from TRINH Hai Khang. Few big steps on the landings from Robin Sim Boon Pin. GREAT ROUTINE From John Ivan Cruz. A good routine for LE Thanh Tung. A couple of landing issues but otherwise what an experience for Luqman. SENSATIONAL routine from Carlos Edriel Yulo - STUCK landings with the exception of his final pass. Final gymnast in this field is Singapore veteran Wei An Terry Tay. Some form issues, but otherwise a great routine for Terry. Yulo takes the gold over Tay with Vietnam's TRINH Hai Khang finishing in third.

Because of a delays it appears some of the gymnasts did not get a warm up. I am so confused. LOVE, LOVE. LOVE the Philippines leotards. Red, white and yellow leotard for the Vietnam gymnasts. Lands off the side and steps out of bounds. STUCK!!!!! Beautiful black and purple leotard with diamantes for Kaitlyn Lim. Solid first vault, slightly low in the chest. Lovely second vault, lands slightly to one side. TRAN Doan Quynh Nam - solid vault, step on landing. Sits down her second vault. Rifda Irfanaluthfi - black sleeved leo with diamantes, purple and white body with pink floral flames? It's prettier to see. Small step on landing. Not much distance and landed off to the side. SOLID second vault, just.a small step and some leg separation. Stunning black and red/pink leotard for Geanie and a stunning red and white leo with diamantes for Nadine. Lovely first vault for Geanie, unfortunately, she lands her second vault on her knees. Long wait between Nadine's two vaults and I missed her first one. Lovely second vault, step forward. Ancilla Lucia - Quite a delay before her start. SOLID first vault, maybe a bit too low on the landing. Great vault! Final gymnast is NGUYEN Thi Quynh Nhu. Massive first vault - was great but a bit step on the landing. SOLID second vault. Aleah Finnegan takes out the vault honors over Vietnam's NGUYEN Thi Quynh Nhu and Rifda Irdanaluthfi of Indonesia.

I missed the first four Pommel Horse finalists. PHUONG Thanh Dinh fell from the horse but otherwise a solid routine. Fu Jie Tan is up next from Malaysia. Great swing, a small error in the middle of the routine, recovers well, solid dismount. Final gymnast up is Jan Gwynn Timbang. Vietnam's NGOC Xuan Thien Dang and Malaysia's Fu Jie Tan dominated the field finishing first and second respectively with fellow Malaysian Muhammad Sharul Aimy taking the bronze.

First up on the Uneven Bars final is Rifda Irfanaluthfi - great swing, small leg seperation, solid dismount lands slightly off centre. Gorgeous leo for DO Thi Ngoc Huong. Tries to save her handstands, great fight but jumps off. Finishes strong. Lucia Gabriel Gutierrez - small issue at the start of the routine but finishes solidly with a small step on double tuck dismount. Stunning deep pink and purple leo with diamantes for Rachel Yeoh Li Wen of Malaysia. SOLID!!!! Great routine for Nadine Nathan Joy. Aleah - off on the low bar. Comes back strong. SOLID routine from PHAM Nhu Phuong. Goregous black and white leotard with diamantes for Thantida Sophia Ruecker - small problems throughout the routine.

Malaysia's Rachel Yeoh Li Wen wins the Uneven Bars title over Vietnam's PHAM Nhu Phuong who takes the silver and Singapore's Nadine Nathan Joy who wins the bronze. On the Men's Still Rings, Carlos Edriel Yulo added the gold medal, winning the title over Vietnam's NGUYEN Van Khanh Phong and LE Thanh Tung who won the silver and bronze respectively. I loved seeing the support and comraderie that all the gymnasts have for one another on the podium. Shout out to Rifda Irfanaluthfi for helping Aleah out!
